Be sure to put Sunday, July 15, on your golf calendar! That is the date of the Chapter Championship, which this year will be at Stone Creek Golf Club in Oregon City.
Also, we will play Stone Creek on Sunday, June 24, so those who are signing up for the tournament have the chance to practice.
The Chapter Championship is the first step in the EWGA Championship. Winners of this year’s Chapter Championship will advance to this year’s Semifinals, which are lucky enough to be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at the OGA Course in Woodburn! So let's get a lot of Portland members signed up for the Chapter Championship – you won't have to worry about taking time off to travel if you make it further in the competition. And we'll have an advantage in Regionals because we know the course!
There are two ways to participate in the Chapter Championship, either as a member of a scramble team or as individual in stroke play. A scramble team is made up of four players with established Handicap Indexes. Members with Handicap Indexes above 40.4 are eligible to compete, but are required to use a Course Handicap of a 40.4 Indexed player. It is never too early to form a scramble team!
Stroke play is flighted, so you will be competing against members with similar handicaps. To participate in stroke play, you must have a handicap index. Members with Handicap Indexes above 40.4 are eligible to compete but are required to use a Course Handicap of a 40.4 Indexed player.
All players with established Handicaps must post at least two scores by June 30.
If you are establishing a Handicap for the first time in 2018, you must have at least five 18-hole score equivalents (a combination of 18-hole and 9-hole rounds is acceptable) posted to your record the day before a Handicap revision date. Revisions occur on the 1st and 15th of each month.
More information about the Chapter Championship will be coming in future months, but if you want information now, contact 2018 Chapter Championship Director Mary Gilbert at email@example.com or 503-629-8910.
